New Doc's Good Times
WELCOME to the new dental crew!!!!
(L to R) Dr's Scott Parker, Jonathan Visscher & Debra Visscher Matson.
They took on the Guam Dental Board Exam and passed. Debra and Jonathan will be staying and starting work right away. They are already getting into the island by starting SCUBA lessons...Sweet. Scott and his wife will be coming out in January! Can't wait till you guys get here. Anyway, no blogging over the last few weeks because of the time and stress dealing with the Boards. Now that those are over we spent a nice labor day out on the ocean. We saw 11 Turtles, 1 Sting Ray, 30+ big Barracuda chasing Mike and I plus a nice mix of nudibranchs. Enjoy the pics!!

East Cocos Wall
We had an excellent day to head down to Cocos Wall today. It was almost like glass down there. Even though, we had a nice little current. We saw a few sharks, turtle, barracuda and Dori Fish. For some reason we always think were going to see a little more. No great U/W photos but here are a few to enjoy!

First Ortho Case
Today I had the pleasure of removing the bands & Brackets on my first Ortho Case. She started with her two upper laterals (second from the middle) tucked behind her bottom teeth. She is such a cute girl and those teeth distracted from that fact. She was leaving for college next week so they decided to get them off a little early. They were happy with how they looked but I would rather have kept her in them a little longer for some fine tunning. I'm sure my Dad, and a few other will have some comments on what I did wrong....Ha! Anyway, it was fun to see how excited she was to get them straightened out!!!

Bathroom Project 2008
While Shoshanna was visiting her folks I decided to surprise her with a few changes. I might have bit of a little more than I could chew with 3 separate areas but hey...gotta make life exciting. The demo of the wall to wall tiles was a real pain. I'm sure I could get ripped holding the stupid jackhammer over my head all day. Even though I'm glad not to be seeing 100% green when I walk in now! I'm also glad we can track a little mud/rain into the house without ruining the carpet. Enjoy the slide show.

Guacamole Night
Greetings, last weekend I decided to share my Avocado Wealth (Thanks to wonderful patients) with the Woods. We got together and whipped up a few kinds of Guacamole. They were smooth and very tasty. Hopefully I can get my patients to bring in some more because my tree that I planted is growing painfully slow....almost like the Pinapple. Anyway, Shoshanna gets back tonight so there will be a few pictures of a little surprise I've made for her. Check back!!!

Opps, Oops, Poops, Spops...I think it's in there somewhere Ryan :-)
Well, I was moving my Pineapple to sunny pastures and Snap... While the harvest was premature by a few weeks, it still had a decent flavor that even Eric enjoyed. Luckily the plant already has a sucker so in the next few months...years. Maybe I'll have another one ready!
We went down to Piti Channel for a night dive last Sunday night. Great weather and water proved to bring a few nice critter to our attention. I didn't need to share my air with anyone either....:-) The Spanish Dancers were particularly nice. As you can see below there are really small ones all the way up to adults wither their mantles out...Enjoy!!

Toby Eye

I started a storage area in the guest bedroom while Shoshanna is gone. It's coming along and hopefully will be a place to stash goodies!!

Hospital Point
This weekend we had a negative tide and decided to walk around Hospital Point. We had fun finding baby Octo's in the tide pools and urchin shells. At one point we had to split up the group. Families with little kids turned around but the Fly's, Edwin and us decided to go all the way around. At one point you can no longer walk on the small reef flat below the cliff line. Thus you must jump in and swim to the next area. The waves weren't too bad so we all bailed into the ocean. Unfortunately, Edwin didn't feel to comfortable in the small swells. After a little drama getting him back up on the ledge we continued the walk. Sho and I snorkeled for a while. I had our waterlogged gear bag as well as Edwin's backpack. All that drag made it a chore to keep up with Shoshanna. Anyway, once up on the reef flat again Dixie found a black nudibranch. We had already see him but while we watch him crawl away we saw the small bubble shell below. Not quite a nudibranch but a close relative. We've been wanting to find one and now we have it. July 4 was fun, but I didn't find anything too explosive in the stores :-( There are a few bonus Yap pictures, Enjoy!!

My Pinapple is getting big, but the sprout on top is even bigger.
Leaving Ulithi all flowered up.
A "Mans" house, to hang out at...why don't we have one of these?

Yap, Top O Mar & Dry Ice Bombs
Well is almost the weekend. Last week this time I was in Ulithi, an outer island of Yap. We were flown over on PMA (Pacific Mission Aviation). As you can see from the slide show the runway was as long as the island. We slept on mats and a few mattresses in the dispensary which took a little getting used to. The island is in the middle of nowhere in there really isn't anything to do accept eat, fish and sleep. Crazily enough they have a generator that supplies power so we squeaked out a little A/C in a couple rooms. The people were great and it was a memorable experience. Hopefully we will be able to go back again before we leave.
It was nice to be in a proper dental office again this week. Adjustable chair, good lights, but it was still work ;-) We meet Dixie's brother and Sister in Law at Top O Mar for dinner which was quite tasty as usual. Unfortunately, they had doused the tables with Bleach to kill mold and didn't wipe it off. My nice (but old) GAP shirt was ruined as was Dixies good Khakis....Their response was, thats too bad. No come back on us, or tonights is free. Anyway, intriguing customer service.
I was also able to relive the glory days this week. Ken Lee our pharmacist got some Vaccines that were packed in Dry Ice. You know me, I couldn't pass that up. Mike Woods and I went out and filled a few bottles...The big one that we thought was a dude went off right behind us when were weren't looking...Gooood Times. Too bad no photos of that one. Maybe next time!! Anyway, there a little update.

Happy Birthday Daredevil Fly
It's another year added onto Eric's time line. We celebrated with a good dinner at the Guam Hard Rock Cafe. After making him stand on a bench for his birthday sing along we headed south down the strip. He then enjoyed...completed a 200+ft launch in the Guam Slingshot. Kuddos to a guy who isn't fond of heights :-)
